Nicolas Sarkozy Sues and Sues..

PARIS (Reuters) - French President Nicolas Sarkozy has taken legal action against the Web site of the magazine Le Nouvel Observateur over an article describing what it said was a text message he had sent to his ex-wife Cecilia, his lawyer said on Thursday.

The suit accused the weekly of "falsification and the use and procurement of falsified documents" over an article that appeared on Feb. 6 headed "The obsession with Cecilia", lawyer Thierry Herzog told Reuters.

On Tuesday a court in Paris awarded the president symbolic damages of one euro against the budget airline Ryanair for unauthorised use of a photograph of him and his companion Carla Bruni in an advertisement for cheap tickets.

The couple were married last weekend after a whirlwind romance first made public in December, only weeks after Sarkozy divorced his second wife Cecilia.

The Nouvel Observateur Web site said Sarkozy had sent Cecilia a text message shortly before his wedding with Bruni concerning his relationship with Cecilia. The Nouvel Observateur could not immediately be reached for comment.

Sarkozy's romance with Bruni has been splashed across the French and international media ever since the pair appeared in public together.

Although the relationship has fascinated the public, Sarkozy's opinion poll ratings have suffered from perceptions that he was being distracted from his duties and had lost touch with the concerns of voters worried about the cost of living.
